Rose Ayling-Ellis has spoken out following the news that Giovanni Pernice won't be returning to Strictly Come Dancing. The actress, who took home the glitterball trophy with Giovanni in 2021, made a splash on Instagram with an exciting update just after the 2024 Strictly cast was revealed.

The 29 year old star is set to delve into her ancestry on the BBC's Who Do You Think You Are? and joining a stellar line-up, including Line of Duty's Vicky McClure, TV host Paddy McGuinness, TOWIE icon Gemma Collins, Olympic legend Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill, and pop sensations Olly Murs and Mel C.

Celebrating its 20th year, just like Strictly, the heartfelt show promises more captivating family history discoveries. Multitude Media announced: "Today, alongside the BBC, our TV Team announced that 'Who Do You Think You Are?' will be celebrating 20 years of delighting and astonishing the nation with another powerful series produced by our TV client @walltowalltv!".

The announcement highlighted the celebs set to explore their roots, teasing the unexpected findings they may uncover. The post concluded with the promise of the show's return to BBC One this summer, reports the Express. Rose couldn't contain her excitement as she shared the announcement, captioning it: "Very excited for this".

Meanwhile, Giovanni has been in the spotlight for less celebratory reasons, as three of his ex-partners, including Amanda Abbington, have sought legal action against him. The Italian dancer has denied any allegations of "threatening or abusive behaviour" and said he was looking forward to "clearing his name".

Rose and Giovanni struck up a close bond while dancing together in 2021, however their relationship seems to have cooled in recent months. The pair have even become subject of feud rumours over the past few weeks after Giovanni failed to support Rose on a huge announcement.

Rose, who made history after becoming the first ever deaf contestant to lift the Glitterball trophy, revealed she had been cast in an upcoming BBC revenge thriller, Reunion, in a post shared online.

She wrote: "I'm so excited to be joining William Mager's Reunion and to be working alongside such a talented cast, whose work I have long admired. It is a very special project and an important moment for the deaf community's representation on TV."
