It's the news all music fans have been waiting years for, and it looks like an Oasis reunion was finally on the cards after being organised for this summer. It's been claimed that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher booked out Wembley Stadium for gigs this year, before backtracking.

Liam, 51, and Noel, 57, fronted Oasis together from 1991 until 2009. The band split up after the siblings famously fell out, with their rocky relationship going on to play out in the media over the years. Despite having been at war with one another for over a decade, it's been claimed the brothers could finally be set to settle their differences and bring Oasis back to the stage.

Liam and Noel allegedly booked out the London stadium on 8, 9 and 10 July. However, the gigs have reportedly been cancelled after "it all collapsed again". “An Oasis reunion has been hoped for for years. This year would have been the big moment, 30 years on from their debut album Definitely Maybe," a source told the Mirror.

“But until now, no one has known how close Liam and Noel came to making it a reality. It doesn’t get much closer than booking Wembley, and their teams were devastated when it all collapsed yet again. But the fact they made it to that point shows there’s a will on both sides. The hope is it will be a case of not if, but when.”

OK! has contacted representatives for both Noel and Liam Gallagher for comment.

Noel and Liam, who have both embarked on solo careers since the end of Oasis, fell out in 2009 with Noel quitting the band just hours before they were due to perform on stage. He released a statement at the time, saying he could no longer work with his younger brother.

The brothers have continued to take aim at one another in the media, with Liam frequently claiming he is keen to bring Oasis back together but it is Noel who isn't too sure. In February's issue of MOJI Magazine, Liam claimed: “Noel? He ain’t f***ing doing it. We put an offer on the table for an Oasis thing, because we got offered it – he said no. It was a big tour, a lot of money.”

Liam has previously told how his feud with Noel began backstage at a gig in Paris in 2009. He admitted in an interview he swung one of his brother's guitars "like an axe" at the gig.
