Gavin & Stacey fans hail ‘perfect ending’ as cast sob after one last time together
Fans are absolutely gushing over the "perfect ending" of the Gavin and Stacey cast as they came together one last time ahead of the shows finale airing on Christmas Day. The cast of the BBC sitcom took over the slot for one morning only on the Radio 2 breakfast show, with co-writers of the hit series Ruth Jones and James Corden anchoring the episode alongside fellow cast members.
It was an eventful slot to say the least, including some hilarious moments fans have been gushing about ever since. From Cath Woolridge turning up to deliver the Pause for Thought segment, to Mathew Horne and Joanna Page being asked how they felt about Christmas and whether they liked tea or coffee in the morning by Ruth.
But the best moment of them all was right at the end when they played the iconic Gavin & Stacey theme tune, 'Run' by Stephen Fretwell. There wasn't a dry eye in the room as cast members hugged each other, getting out of their chairs to embrace one another. For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up to our newsletter

Fans have been raving about the special reunion on BBC Radio 2, with one commenting on a clip shared to Instagram: "So emotional but seeing this is a perfect ending. Thank you for all the memories."
Someone else commented on the emotional clip: "Crying! Brilliant show, bravo!! Can't wait to watch the finale on Wednesday." Another simply said: "This is so special."
The stars have spoken candidly about the upcoming Christmas special set to be the last episode we ever see that's part of the series, airing on Christmas day on December 25.
Without giving too much away, Ruth Jones confirmed in an interview shown on Lorraine on December 20, just days before it is set to air on December 25, that "people will understand why it is the last episode" when they watch it, hinting that something big must happen in the finale.
When asked: "Is it the last one?", Ruth replied: "Well, yeah. It has to be. When you see it you'll understand why." Cordon has also been firm this will be the last episode as he said the show “cannot carry on” after the Christmas Day episode.
Gavin and Stacey first aired on BBC Three in 2007 and spanned 20 episodes over the course of three series. The original cast all return for the finale, including Uncle Bryn and Jason, making it the final chance for some burning questions to finally be answered.
