Gavin and Stacey stars James Corden and Ruth Jones have revealed that the show’s highly-anticipated Christmas special won’t be the last fans hear of the sitcom. With the show last airing on our screens back in 2019, Gavin and Stacey is set to return to our screens once more with a highly-anticipated episode on Christmas Day.

And while it’s been dubbed as the finale by co-creators James and Ruth, it turns out there’s more to come from the sitcom. For fans of the show, the pair have written the book When Gavin Met Stacey and Everything in Between: A Story Of Love And Friendship, which will be released in autumn 2025.

The book will reveal how James, 46, and Ruth, 58, turned their idea into a show and will also feature never before heard gossip and behind the scenes insight. “We're so excited to be sharing the story behind the story of Gavin and Stacey,” the pair said.

“The show has played a huge part in our twenty-five-year friendship and we hope this book will give readers a fresh insight into how it all came about.”

With the Christmas finale just days away, star of the show Larry Lamb, who plays Gavin’s dad Mick Shipman, spoke to OK! about his time filming. “What an extraordinary experience filming it was," the 77 year old said.

“For all the people who have been watching religiously since the show started, you've got a trip coming up, I'll tell you that! Everybody is going to get flipped and flipped again because it's so, so clever, what Ruth and James have done. The way they've tied all the loose ends of the story together - it's like a piece of a fabric that's been knitted and interwoven. It's an incredible episode.”

This year’s episode comes five years after the last, and a whooping 17 years after the show made its debut. Given its legendary status, Larry admitted that he signed up to the Christmas episode without even seeing the script.

He added: We all said 'yes' before we knew what it was, because we needed to all be free before they could start planning it. If somebody had gone and signed up for a big deal that would crash right through the time we'd be filming, that would have been a major problem. When we finally all sat down and read the script, it was better than I could've imagined. I thought, 'How on earth are they going to bring it all to an end?’ But they have, and it's so good.”
