Paddy McGuinness opens up on single life, going on dates and living with ex Christine
Paddy McGuinness has opened up about navigating single life, including going on dates and cohabiting with his ex-wife Christine McGuinness.
In an exclusive interview with The Mirror, Paddy shared his stance towards Christine potentially finding someone new, stating: "If Christine met someone else, I’d be supportive."
Despite their separation, Paddy explains that their relationship status would not be apparent to outsiders. He shared: "If someone didn’t know our situation and came to our house and they spent the day with us, they would not have a clue (we were not together)."
Paddy explains that they maintain a harmonious relationship, living together and co-parenting, while any legal matters are handled separately.
Regarding his foray into dating, Paddy revealed that he tried a few dates last year, added: “After twelve months of adjusting to life on my own I felt I should give it a try rather than really wanting to.” Currently, he is happy being single, prioritising his own well-being.
As for potential challenges for any future partners, Paddy acknowledges that the current living arrangement might pose difficulties. He noted: "For now, we’re happy with how things are, living together and helping each other balance work and kids."
After eleven years of marriage, the couple announced their split in July 2022. Paddy and Christine share three children: 10-year-old twins Leo and Penelope, and seven-year-old Felicity, all of whom are autistic.
Paddy opened up about the progress his twins have made, sharing proudly: “Leo and Penelope went from being non-verbal up until the age of about four or five to now at school getting the best marks in the class,
He proudly mentioned that his son is now the head boy at school and that both children are excelling academically and socially, engaging in typical childhood activities like completing homework and playing.
Regarding their youngest child, Felicity, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three, Paddy highlighted her creative talents, particularly her love for making cards for special occasions like Valentine's Day.
Christine recently revealed one of her unexpected fears following the end of her marriage, as she took part in the latest series of BBC Pilgrimage.
During the episode she opened up about her marriage directly as she explained: “I think everyone has hard times in life and everyone has challenges. I’ve been separated now for almost two years, but I don’t think I’ve dealt with the separation completely yet and I know that one day I’m going to have to do that. There’s still the biggest changes to come that I’m scared of doing.”
