Katie Piper, has received an outpouring of support from fans and friends after she revealed that she had to back off from her TV duties for a second consecutive week due to an adverse reaction following an eye operation. Last week, the presenter informed that she'd undergone an "unexpected medical procedure."

Piper's place on her ITV weekend breakfast programme was filled in by Good Morning Britain star Charlotte Hawkins last week and it seems like she will be stepping up again this week as Katie isn't well enough to return just yet.

A source told Mirror that the famed presenter, who survived a horrifying acid attack by an ex-boyfriend in 2008 leading to serious injuries and permanent scarring: "Katie had quite a bad reaction to this operation, which has left her feeling really poorly. Much as she'd love to be back on the sofa on Saturday, at the moment it's just not realistic and she acknowledges this. She is concentrating on her recovery so that she can be back to her best as soon as possible. ITV have been really understanding and have said to her that she should take all the time she needs before coming back."

Over on her Instagram, the beloved personality expressed hopes of returning soon, thanking Charlotte for her assistance, "I'll be back soon thank you @charlottehawkins1 for stepping in last minute."

Fan-favourite celebrities and friends showed their support in full force with Gaby Roslin leaving encouraging words, "Sending you lots of love and healing energy beautiful girl," while Andi Oliver penned, "Big love to you dear woman xx love and light xx."

Carol Vorderman expressed her support, saying: "Take care wonderful lady. You come first Telly is just telly. Sending huge love and respect xxx."

Andrea McClean also showed concern: "Sorry to hear that Katie. I hope all is well soon x," while Charlotte Hawkins sent her affection: "Sending lots of love to you."

Katie has endured countless surgeries to mend the damage inflicted on her face and eyesight after a horrific assault orchestrated by an ex-boyfriend when she was just 24, and exclusively shared with OK! her plans for more surgery.

The beloved TV presenter continues to host her weekend morning chat show on ITV1, which airs on Saturdays and Sundays and debuted in 2022. The show has welcomed a variety of guests, including Jamie Laing from Made in Chelsea and Anna Williamson of Celebs Go Dating fame.

Earlier this year, Katie updated her followers about her recovery following an operation aimed at saving her left eye. She shared the emotional toll of her tarsorrhaphy surgery, admitting to fans that it had been "mentally hard".

As a mother of two, Katie has faced over 400 surgical procedures in an effort to restore her face.

She opened up to her fans, saying: "I've got a defect and an infection that is becoming really hard to treat. I have to give a shout out to my lovely husband, he's always there for me, always driving. He's spent a lot of time in hospital waiting rooms, eye clinic waiting rooms, wards, and he sits in a lot of car parks waiting for me. Also, if this helps anyone else.... yes I do sometimes find it hard. I'm ok with looking different to everyone else but operations can sometimes take me back to memories of how this all started and that's hard mentally."
