Line of Duty actor Adrian Dunbar - who famously played the character of Ted Hastings - has hinted there could be a Line of Duty movie in the works.

When appearing on Radio 4 today (June 14), the 65 year old who portrayed the superintendent in all six seasons of the hit BBC drama teased that the cast - including co-stars Martin Compston and Vicky McClure - could be ready for "some great times again.

When asked if fans could expect another series or a film, Adrian laughed: "I have to be very careful, y'know, don't want to burn up the internet if I say anything. But the point is we all want it to happen, so if it were to happen, we'd be really happy."

When probed if that meant the show's writer Jed Mercurio too, Adrian continued: "Of course that includes Dr Mercurio himself. Who knows? He might be beavering away somewhere with an idea."

Line of Duty began in 2012 and followed a special and controversial unit dedicated to rooting out corruption within the police. The finale in 2021, which brought in 12.8 million viewers, has left fans on tenterhooks ever since as it left many unanswered questions.

But Adrian isn't the only star of the show who has addressed reunion rumours recently, as Martin - who played anti-corruption unit detective inspector Steve Arnott - told OK! that the cast catch up daily.

“There’s no immediate plans,” the 40 year old Scottish actor said. “But the guys are some of my best friends, I’m always on the phone with Vicky [McClure] actually.

"We all catch up weekly if not daily at times. I think it’s just getting us all together – that’s one of the drawbacks but also major pluses of having a successful show. We’re all doing different stuff and Jed [Mercurio] is a man in demand for other TV shows.”

Martin then told the Mirror about his hopes for fellow actor Danny Dyer to join the show and, if the popular BBC series were to swing back into action, he thinks the 46 year old EastEnders star would be a fabulous choice.

He said: "[Danny] would be a great shout [as a 'bent copper' on the show]. Danny is something else, honestly, he is one of our treasures. He is a wonderful actor - it would be good to see [him] in there."
