Mark Labbett, known as The Beast on ITV's The Chase, has taken a subtle swipe at his ex-girlfriend, Hayley Palmer, on social media.

The pair seemed to be head over heels for each other after they started dating last year. However, just a few weeks ago, Hayley confirmed their split on her social media.

Insiders have since revealed that the former couple "had a lovely time" together but ultimately wanted different things in life. They pointed out their differences, such as Hayley's love for showbiz events and Mark's preference for staying at home. The source mentioned that the ex-couple are "still friendly", adding that the professional quizzer "enjoys a quiet life" and spending time with his son from a previous relationship.

But in a recent post, Mark shared that he had enjoyed a meal at the same restaurant he and Hayley used to visit together. Sharing a picture of himself enjoying a bowl of tomato soup and bread with his 50,100 followers, The Beast wrote: "My summer of protein and pain. Gym, nutrition. #seasonswickersley feels good to be The Beast :)".

Fans would have instantly recognised the table as the one where Mark and Hayley often dined, reports the Mirror. With a big grin on his face, the quiz master seemed to be showing his ex what she was missing.

Just two days before they announced their split, Mark and Hayley celebrated their first anniversary with a nostalgic trip to the beach where it all began. Mark gushed on social media with a snap of the pair: "One year anniversary. Same beach, same bench." Hayley echoed his sentiment, sharing the same caption on her own heartfelt post.

The duo was never shy about their romance, with Hayley even discussing their age difference on Good Morning Britain, candidly stating: "I feel like we're pretty much the same [...] We just get on really well."

Their paths first crossed at the 2022 National Television Awards, where Mark's receipt of a Toby Carvery Gold Card seemed to charm Hayley right off her feet.

Reflecting on their connection, Hayley confided in The Mirror that she once saw Mark as The One. Recalling the moment involving the Toby Carvery card, she shared: "It was a fun kind of ice breaker. Then he messaged me the next day, and we were having a little chat, and he was like, 'Maybe I'll take you to that Toby Carvery'. I was just laughing about it, I thought we were just friends."
