A fitness blogger has taken to Instagram to reveal the results of not shaving her body hair for a year to encourage others to embrace their natural beauty.

While many women reach for the razor at the first sign of stubble, Morgan Mikenas has stepped away from the hair remover for over a year.

The inspiring fitness blogger believes women shouldn’t feel bound to societal beauty standards and wants others to find confidence in their bodies in their natural hairy state.

Morgan, who regularly posts inspiring fitness health and fitness videos for her 27,000 Instagram followers, chose to unveil the results of her non-removal in a post called “Why I Don’t Shave.”

Proudly showing off her hairy legs and armpits, Morgan explained why she feels so much better now that shaving is no longer part of her beauty regime.

“My number one reason why I stopped was that it just took so much of my time to get in the shower and shave everything,” she says in a Youtube post. “Just one day, I was like ‘Why am I doing this?’”

“After I let it do its thing and grow out, I realised, hey, this is kind of nice. It started getting super soft and when you shave your body hair, it’s like prickly and itchy and uncomfortable.”

Revealing that she first started shaving her legs when she ran home in tears after getting bullied about it in primary school, Morgan went on to say that she spent the following years diligently keeping her body fuzz-free.

But at the beginning of last year she stepped away from the razor and hasn’t shaved her armpits or legs since.

“If I let my leg hair grow out in the past, I guess I would feel dirty, I would feel kind of ashamed because I didn’t feel feminine,” she says. “So then I would feel obligated to go shave my legs so I would feel sexy, but not anymore. I freaking love my body hair. I love being my most natural and human self.”

And Morgan’s refreshing stance on body hair has won her legion of fans.

“Dear all women. You don’t have to shave to please us men. Most of us don’t care at all. I can honestly say that i think its a waste of time you shave. You’re just as beautiful when you are natural and as you are,” one man fan wrote on Instagram.

“You motivate me. I was tempted to start shaving my legs because of the comments I get but it doesn’t bother me that much anymore,” added another women.

“You be you. That’s a great message to send out into the world. People have opinions on anything and everything out there. Their opinion isn’t fact. Be you, be proud, and be happy. Kudos to you. :),” another fan added.

Morgan joins a growing body love movement that’s seen women chuck out their razors and embrace their body hair in all its natural beauty.

Just last week we reported that Madonna’s daughter Lourdes had been pictured on a beach proudly showing off her armpit hair. And she’s certainly not the only celebrity refusing to conform to de-fuzzing beauty standards. Miley Cyrus, and ‘Girls’ actress, Jemima Kirke have all proudly flaunted unshaven underarms and back in January Jemima’s sister, actress Lola Kirke contrasted her princess-like Andrew Gn gown with some nicely grown body hair at the Golden Globes.

Body hair is certainly having a moment and while not everyone will be rushing to ditch the shaving foam, it’s refreshing to see more women embracing their natural bodies, armpit hair and all.
