I have one pair of jeans that I love. They flatter my figure the best way possible, pair well with a variety of footwear, and are super versatile. However, there is one huge hiccup: They hug my gut and squeeze my belly in a major way, so I can only wear them for brief periods of time. Luckily, there are a number of denim styles in my closet that I can wear for hours on end that parallel in comfort to a pair of my favorite sweats.

Everything from ultra-stretchy fabric blends and elastic waistbands to wide legs and perfectly dropped waists can be a game-changing feature when it comes to comfort in denim. Here are eight pairs of jeans that are as comfortable as sweatpants, coming from someone who writes about jeans for a living.

Citizens of Humanity Ayla Baggy High Waist Jeans

While the Citizens of Humanity Ayla Baggy High Waist Jeans are designed out of a heavier denim, the cut is one of the most comfortable I own. They just sort of effortlessly hang on the waistline and the legs are so wide, you forget you have pants on. Plus, I get so many compliments on the Rihanna-worn jeans. Yesterday I really felt like wearing sweats or leggings to my hair appointment, but threw on the tuxedo striped version with a bodysuit instead, and ended up wearing them until bedtime.

Rag & Bone Sofie Featherweight High Rise Jeans

With super roomy legs, these ultra-lightweight and incredibly soft Rag & Bone Sofie Featherweight High Rise Jeans feel so loungy, but are so now and current with their exaggerated cut. I have them in the OG version, but have been wearing the splurge-worthy, beautifully bedazzled version to all my holiday parties.

Lee Monroe Straight Leg Jeans

The Lee Monroe Straight Leg Jeans cost less than a pair of most sweatpants and are “the most comfortable pair” of jeans one Amazon reviewer has “ever worn.”  The relaxed, slimming style is designed out of a cotton, polyester, and spandex denim that wears great all day long—there’s a reason it has 16,000 five-star ratings.

Agolde V-Waist Baggy Jeans

I could never really get into the whole mom jean movement. However, I am fully onboard with Agolde's V-Waist Baggy Jeans, a more flattering, level-upped version of the ‘90s style. Like the majority of the brand’s oversized, high waisted denim collection, the relaxed waistline and roomy legs make them all-day comfy.

Mother The Hustler Ankle Jeans

Mother’s Hustler Ankle Jeans are a great example of how the celeb-beloved brand has mastered ultra-stretchy denim. The reason why the Hustler has become one of its best-selling styles is due to the fact that they are basically leggings in denim form. I also love the slim leg and slight cropped flare, which makes them super versatile in terms of footwear options. I have them in a light wash frayed ankle style, and have been wearing them nonstop for over a year now.

Abercrombie & Fitch Curve Love Low Rise Baggy Jean

Abercrombie & Fitch

If you’ve got curves and want to avoid the dreaded waist gap, the Abercrombie & Fitch Curve Love Low Rise Baggy Jean have got your back—literally. Designed with additional room in the waist and thighs out of the brand’s trademark vintage stretch fabric, this style has gone viral for a reason. It’s also available in a whopping 26 washes, sizes 23 through 37, and oh-so-many length options—extra short, short, regular, long, and extra long. Many shoppers have ordered the “comfiest jeans” that are “flattering and comfy” “honestly don’t feel like jeans” in multiple colors.

When I need a skinnier leg jean for all-day wear, I pull out a pair of Jag Ruby Straight Leg Jeans out of my closet. Somehow, the style manages to slim and smooth while still feeling like a pair of leggings.
