Waitrose has announced the launch of half bottles of wine to help customers cut down on their alcohol intake.

The new own-label line comes after studies indicate that ‘wine o’clock’ is driving a health problem across the nation.

Before now, only mini bottles have been available providing shoppers with a single glass of the beverage. The aim of the new half bottles is to only allow customers three to four small glasses of wine suitable for a ‘mid-week evening meal’.

The newly-launched line includes 38 bottles in total with five red and five white wines. You can also purchase Rosé wine and prosecco from the supermarket chain.

And if that isn’t enough to tempt you, prices range from £3.49 to £4.99.
