Unless you avoid TikTok, I'd venture to guess your For You page is brimming with videos about the cottage cheese and mustard diet. TikTokers have done what they do best and latched onto the burgeoning health trend with fervour. Gone are the days of whipped coffee and frog bread. It's a brave new cottage cheese-filled world.

But why (and since when?) has the entire internet decided to dunk their chicken sausage and veggie spreads into bowls of cottage cheese and mustard? TikToker @tiffanyymagee's own lunch habit seems to have inspired the entire internet—to the tune a million plus views.

Now, in case you've somehow gone the last two weeks without hearing "chicken sausage with mustard and cottage cheese, hearts of palm with mustard, Japanese sweet potato with mustard," or some variation of the trend, let me fill you in: Tiffany Magee has been eating mustard and cottage cheese with her chicken sausage and raw veggies for more reasons than *just* how easy it is to slap on a plate. Magee said she lost 80 pounds because of the diet.


"You guys keep asking if I get sick of this, but honestly I was waiting until lunch time so that I could eat it again," she said in a recent post.

Whether you're onboard with the trend or not (okay, it's maybe not the most appetising lunch), it is actually healthy AF. According to certified nutritionist and Le Cordon Bleu-trained chef Serena Poon, who spoke with Glamour about the diet, it's super nutritious—which I'm sure you already guessed.

"The incorporation of a variety of raw vegetables in this diet is commendable. Raw vegetables in particular are high in fibre, which promotes healthy digestion, feelings of fullness, and gut health," she told the outlet, while noting that cottage cheese is also a "valuable source of protein and calcium" and though "consuming mustard daily won't unlock miraculous health benefit ... incorporating it into a balanced, plant-forward diet can contribute positively to overall health."

As for the chicken sausage... Poon is less enthusiastic. She's also not sold on Magee's habit of eating it every day.

"Remember: Variety and balance in your diet, rather than an exclusive focus on individual foods, play the most significant role in achieving and maintaining good health," she said.
