Duchess of Cambridge Dresses Down In Personalised Jacket For America’s Cup Outing

The Duchess of Cambridge swapped her usual ritzy dresses for sporty Sunday casuals on a trip to the America’s Cup World Series sailing regatta yesterday.

The 34-year-old royal was joined by husband Prince William as they showed their support for British sailor, Sir Ben Ainslie by donning matching his and hers monogrammed polo shirts in blue, grey and red team colours. The cute athletic tops had Duchess of Cambridge and Duke of Cambridge emblazoned across the back.

The Duchess opted to keep the accessories for her paired-down look simple, choosing a pair of black super skinny jeans and nude espadrille wedges from Monsoon. The only hint of her usual more glitzy style came in the form of a pair of £2200 leaf drop diamond earrings by British Jeweller Kiki McDonough.

Before taking a boat trip to observe the racing, The Duchess switched her wedges for more practical black Adidas trainers with aqua laces and bundled up in a monogrammed fleece style jacket. And in true matchy matchy style William also opted to wrap up in his own name-emblazoned jacket, while wearing a pair of red Adidas trainers for the afternoon’s outing.

Once on board the Land Rover BAR viewing boat, William and Kate pulled on caps and sunglasses for their trip around Portsmouth. And to protect her hair from the wind, Kate swept her long locks into a loose ponytail.

The Duchess, who is a patron of the 1851 Trust, a foundation to inspire the next generation of English sailors, was seen sharing a joke with her old friend, Sir Ben Ainslie, at the event. Considering Sir Ben has welcomed his first child, a daughter, Bellatrix, only a few days ago, perhaps Kate was offering him some parenting tips?

Meanwhile Prince William revealed that Prince George may have been a tad overindulged during his third birthday celebrations on Friday.

When asked by a 10-year-old competition winner what his royal cuteness had been given as birthday presents the dad-of-two jokingly responded, “He got too many things. He’s far too spoilt.”

It’s been a busy few days for the Cambridges. As well as releasing four new pictures to celebrate Prince George’s birthday on Friday, earlier in the week it was announced that Kate’s sister Pippa Middleton was engaged to her boyfriend, James Matthews. The Duke and Duchess were said to be “absolutely delighted” about the news.
