Rylan Clark and Rob Rinder have shared a deeply emotional moment on their new BBC Two series, where they explore Italy while reflecting on their personal lives. The duo, who've both experienced the heartache of marriage break-ups, found solace in their journey, reminiscent of the Grand Tourists of yesteryear.

The show, Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour, premiered on Sunday (May 12), revealing the pair's candid discussions amidst the stunning Italian backdrop. Over drinks, they delved into the impact their respective divorces had on them.

Rylan confided in Rob about the intense period following his split, saying: "I think it was a culmination of my marriage breaking down and actually me stopping for the first time in 10 years. Then, all of a sudden, I hit quite a big speed bump instead of carrying on, I just sunk."

The TV personality, known for his stint on 'X-Factor, described his ordeal further: "It was the worst experience of my life. I just went on a downward spiral. I tried to end it, I tried to finish myself off. I didn't eat, I went down to 9st. I'm 6ft 4 Rob, like I look horrendous."

As Rylan opened up, Rob listened intently, removing his sunglasses in a gesture of empathy. Rylan then expressed gratitude for his life but admitted he would sacrifice his career to spare his mother the distress of seeing him unwell: "I'm so grateful for what I've got," before adding, "I would give it all up" to avoid causing her any more worry, reports the Express.

As the episode unfolded, Rob became emotional and confessed: "I was once so in love when I was in my early twenties, but it wasn't reciprocated. And it never has been."

Rylan responded by saying: "Do you know what, Rob? We're here once, we've been through quite a lot of stuff - what's it taught us? Nothing's forever unless it's right." They then clinked glasses for a toast before Rylan made a quip to lighten the mood as Rob dried his eyes.

Viewers were quick to praise the first instalment of Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour. On Twitter, one person gushed: "Absolutely love this. Rylan and Rob, are fabulous and they are visiting my must-go-to during the series, Rome #robandrylansgrandtour."

Another tweeted: "The best thing I've watched in ages! You pair is the friendship we didn't know we needed! Laughed and cried all through that. Can't wait to see more!" whilst an additional viewer added: "Oh my goodness love chuckled and cried at your honesty and it's only week one such a good watch thank you loves."

One devoted fan expressed their satisfaction with: "Absolutely LOVED it Rylan," while another mirrored their sentiment adding: "I loved it. It's interesting and educational. Funny and sad. You two are the nicest of people. Your honesty when you both share your experiences and feelings is so emotional. Can't wait for the next episode."
