Princess Anne and Zara Tindall have led the attendees at the 2022 Derby Day at Epsom Racecourse in Surrey, on Saturday, the third day of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The Queen herself, who is a lifelong fan of horse racing, withdrew from attending the annual Epsom Derby after experiencing ‘some discomfort’ during the Platinum Jubilee Trooping the Colour celebrations on Thursday.

The Queen, who turned 96 in April, also missed the national Service of Thanksgiving on Friday.

But that hasn’t stopped some of the Royal Family’s biggest horse fanatics from having a wonderful time at the Epsom Derby on Saturday afternoon.

Zara Tindall, herself a competitive horse rider, joined her mother Princess Anne and she represented Zara’s grandmother the Queen at the Derby Day event.

Zara, 41, opted for a cobalt blue and black floral dress by Diane Von Furstenberg which featured a high neck and puffed sleeve.

The mother-of-three jazzed up her Derby Day outfit with a pair of silver Dune London court shoes and a Sandro silver clutch bag.

The royal chose a side sweeping fascinator by Juliette Botterill in a coordinating shade of cobalt blue.

Princess Anne looked as regal as ever in a pale blue and grey checked ensemble, with a matching hat.

Royal fans couldn’t get enough of Zara’s choice of colour over the weekend, from her pink ensemble at the Service of Thanksgiving on Friday at St Paul’s Cathedral to the royal blue outfit at the Epsom Derby.

“Nobody does colour better than Zara Tindall,” wrote one fan on Twitter.

“I want Zara Tindall’s outfit!” wrote another.

Zara’s husband Mike Tindall also completed his trio of wearing his wife's hats after special occasions.

The former England rugby star took to instagram to post the picture of him in Zara’s blue fascinator, just as he had done the day before, in her pink hat.
