A number of guests arriving for the second day of Platinum Jubilee celebrations opted to wear the colour pink in what appeared to be a mark of honour to the Queen.

Royals including Zara Tindall as well as Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and her daughter Lady Louise Windsor were among those to arrive in the pretty shade.

Joining them in the hue at the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral in London were also Boris Johnson's wife Carrie, Priti Patel and Nicola Sturgeon.

The abundance of pink could be interpreted as a tribute to Her Majesty, who has the pink Queen Elizabeth rose named after her.

The wife of Prince Edward chose a blush pink dress and rose-coloured hat while their eldest child, 18, accessorised with a statement pink headband.

Meanwhile, the prime minister's other half stood out in a coral pink dress, a day after she wowed in an £85 fuchsia frock from & Other Stories.

Sitting nearby in the congregation was the home secretary, who chose a fuchsia coat dress and matching hat.

Similarly, Scotland's first minister arrived in a baby pink skirt suit and carried a pale pink clutch bag.

Additionally Sarah Brown, attending the important event with husband Gordon, wore a berry pink dress.

The monarch, who is marking 70 years on the throne, has worn the shade a number of times herself over the decades.

While blue is her favourite outfit colour – making up as much as 29 per cent of her wardrobe – she has worn pink a significant ten per cent of the time, according to a Vogue magazine analysis conducted in 2012.

However, she opted for the former to make an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony after Trooping the Colour yesterday, and accessorised with a special brooch.

However, there were all shades of the rainbow on display among the royal women at the church service earlier today.

Meghan Markle – making her first official royal appearance in almost two years – was praised for her head-to-toe white Dior look, with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also choosing the same simple shade.

Meanwhile, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, impressed onlookers in a lemon yellow Emilia Wickstead dress and matching Philip Treacy hat.

Princess Anne and Princess Beatrice both opted for blue, while Princess Eugenie stood out in orange.
