These paint-splatted overalls come with a £620 price tag from Ralph Lauren
When it comes to overalls, we usually prefer to keep them in the depths of the cupboard and only pull them out for a bit of DIY.
Now, thanks to Ralph Lauren, we might have to re-think our whole autumn vibe.
The luxury designer has just launched a £620 coverall and it screams ‘I’ve-just-painted-the-house’ chic.
Covered in white and orange splatters, the outfit has divided opinion – not least because of the hefty price tag.

People on Twitter were bemused by its DIY appearance – which comes complete with muddy knees for a truly authentic look – mainly because it’s not that in-keeping with the brand’s usual luxury aesthetic.
The only hint of the hefty price tag is a gold zip running down the centre.
“Made from Japanese cotton satin with the reverse side facing out. Utility pockets. Allover paint splatters,” the description reads.

“Are the designers at Ralph Lauren ok?” one unconvinced person wrote on Twitter.
“Am I old? Who wears this stuff?” another questioned.
Others commented on why they would want to spend £620 to look like they’ve just stopped painting their living room.
Watch: These are the biggest celebrity wardrobe malfunctions
For those who want to invest in a coverall but can’t afford to pay in one go, Ralph Lauren is offering a payment plan.
One size is already sold out, so perhaps this unusual item will prove a hit after all.
With 2020 being the year of ticking off jobs around the house, maybe this is the beginning of us all spending a bit more on our DIY wardrobes.

2020 has also been a challenge for fashion companies, with the usual runway collections being postponed or streamed through video.
It has left some - including Ralph Lauren and Gucci - with an opportunity to get inventive.
Just recently, Gucci launched a tartan dress for men in a bid to “fight toxic stereotypes”.
Listed as ‘Tartan cotton long smock shirt’ – Gucci reveal that 1990’s grunge and Peter Pan were their inspirations.
With designers thrust into a sense of disarray this year, will we be seeing more of these unexpected designs pop up? We hope so.
