The three satchels handed to a delighted William included a navy and red one for Prince George, a pink one for Charlotte, and a classic tan one for little Louis.

'So we produced three bags for the children – Mini Windsors for the mini-Windsors.'

Keith then added that William had confirmed that Charlotte's favourite colour is pink, saying: 'George's bag is in his school colours. Charlotte's mad about pink, he (the Duke) said it's her favourite colour.

'And Louis's bag is a classic London tan.'

If you're tempted to get a similar look for your kids (or yourself), the Leather Satchel Company does sell a Junior Windsor backpack in a range of colours – it can be monogrammed just like the young royals' bags, too.
