Fresh blow for Lucy Beaumont on top of divorce from Jon Richardson
It looks like Lucy Beaumont has been issued another blow, following her split from husband Jon Richardson, as her comedy show Hullraisers has reportedly been axed after two seasons.
The 40 year old Task Master and Gogglebox is a scriptwriter for the series, which appears Leah Brotherhead, Taj Atwal and Sinead Matthews as three women living and working in Hull.
The comedy, which launched in 2022 before returning for a second series in 2023, "explores the hilarious and agonising reality of what it is to be a working class woman juggling work, kids, demanding friends, family and frustrating parents from the school playground - all whilst trying to have some fun too".
However, it's now been reported by The Sun that, "the gang won't be reunited for a third series, with a source saying the show is 'two and done".
OK! contacted Lucy's reps for comment.
When approached, a spokesperson for Channel 4 said: “We’re incredibly proud of Hullraisers and all it’s achieved, in particular, the show championed regional voices both on and off screen and was widely praised for its celebration of Hull and its authentic representation of Northern working-class women.
"As part of our Fast Forward strategy, we’re focused on giving Channel 4 viewers the best range of programming, innovating with new shows and driving our streaming growth. That means we have to think really carefully about which shows to return, rest, or conclude.
"We’d like to thank Fable Pictures, the wonderful cast and all those involved in the show’s success over the years and we look forward to working with them again on future projects.”
This news comes after the actress opened up about her divorce from her husband of nine years, Jon.
On Friday, 12 April, the couple - who share daughter Elsie, seven, - released a statement confirming their separation, which read: ""After 9 years of marriage, we would like to announce that we have separated. We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways."
They then confirmed their daughter was their only priority. "As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment", they said.
The couple was originally set up by fellow comedian After Life star Roisin Conaty and tied the knot in April 2015, welcoming a daughter a year later, although she has remained out of the limelight, reports the Mirror.
Their split of course raising questions about the future of their hit show, Meet The Richardsons, which airs on Dave. Since its inception in 2020, Jon and Lucy played "exaggerated versions of themselves" and the fifth series hit UKTV Play on April 8, 2024.
