Preppy girl to fashion icon – the style evolution of Demi Moore
It’s official: Demi Moore is having her moment. After 45 years in the industry, her performance as Elizabeth Sparkle in The Substance has made her the awards season's most valuable player.
It began at the Golden Globes, where the 62 year-old picked up her first-ever acting award (yes, first ever) for Best Actress. Cue applause, tears, and whispers of "it's about time." And let’s talk about her Oscar campaign wardrobe—because Demi has been a walking Oscar statuette since last summer.
At Cannes, she dazzled in a liquid gold Schiaparelli and followed it up with a custom gold Armani Privé gown at the Golden Globes. Intentional or not (it is intentional), her golden streak is making sure she’s unforgettable on every red carpet.
Over her career, Demi has shown us every possible side of herself. She found global fame in St. Elmo’s Fire (1985) as Jules, the quintessential 80s girl. She sizzled as Erin Grant in Striptease, bringing grit to a single mother-turned-stripper, and gave us power (and a shaved head) in G.I. Jane.
Off-screen, she’s no less iconic. Remember the Vanity Fair cover in 1991, where she redefined the conversation by baring her baby bump? That was Demi. Over the decades, she’s transformed from Brat Pack poster girl to minimalist noughties mum, to glamorous wife (Bruce Willis, Ashton Kutcher—yes, we remember), and now, a bona fide fashion icon.
In her seventh decade, Demi Moore is showing us that style—and talent—only improve with age. And with Oscar buzz mounting, Hollywood is finally catching up to what we’ve all known: it’s Demi’s time.
