Peter Andre on the heartwarming reason he gave wife Emily final say over baby's name
Naming a child can be a difficult task, and Peter Andre and Emily MacDonagh know exactly what it's like. The couple became proud parents again after welcoming their newest child into the world on Tuesday 2 April – a beautiful baby girl weighing 7lb 3oz.
Now, after a month since she made an arrival into the world, they've decided on a name - Arabella Rose Andréa. But it turns out that the choice was all down to Emily because Peter knew he'd love any name she'd pick.
In his exclusive column, Peter explained: "A couple of weeks ago I said to Emily that it was down to her to pick a baby name – after all, she’d brought our baby into the world. Emily wanted us to decide together, but when she came up with the name Arabella Rose, I immediately thought, “That’s so beautiful.”
"I guess it’ll be Bella or Belle for short. Her name suits her perfectly and “Rose” is what we originally called Millie for the first few weeks. Our family feels complete.
"All of the kids are obsessed with their new sister – she’s just so adorable. Junior and Princess have been amazing at helping us out, too. I feel very blessed."
Emily was also the one who shared the news of the newborn's name, with a sweet photo on Instagram. She captioned it: "It’s taken a while but after lots of deliberation we’ve finally decided. Arabella Rose Andréa. Thank you to the lovely Sarah Deakin @curation_studio for the beautiful photos!"
Before they finally settled on Arabella Rose Andréa, Peter took to his social media to seek inspiration and advice from his army of fans. At the time, he revealed he'd narrowed it down to two, but said he and Emily were still undecided, saying: "Athena is also in the running. Not sure how ems feels about it but I LOVE it." He also told another fan that "Charlotte is also in the running. I like Charlie.
Peter also posted the same picture, though wrote a different caption that read: “I think you’ve chosen a beautiful name @dr_emily_official Arabella Rose Andréa I LOVE it. and I love her.. and you of course:) Apparently in Greek it’s Ἄρβηλα””.
The dad of five has been vocal about the names he was keen on, responding to a fan who suggested Athena - a Greek name - with: "I LOVE it" but cautioning: "Not sure how Ems feels about it."
