Olly Murs admits he's missing his first Father's Day - but promises he'll 'make it up' to his baby girl
Pop singer Olly Murs is sadly missing his very first Father’s Day with his newborn, Madi. Olly’s daughter was born just nine weeks ago in April and in an emotional post, the star declared they wouldn't be spending Sunday 16 June together - but for a good reason.
In a social media post with lots of snaps together, Olly wrote: “Dear Madi, one day you might be allowed an Instagram account and you will see this but today is a very special day. My first Father’s Day!”
He continued: “You’re perfect in every way my little bundle of pooey nappies and I can’t believe you’re already 9 weeks old. Sorry I’ve been on tour and now at the euros watching England's first game but I’ll make up to ya when I get home x big love your dad x”.
Along with the post were a series of pictures, the first with Olly looking adoringly at his daughter on the sofa. The next being a selfie with Madi over his shoulder, then cradling his baby in his hands and finally a snap of a babygrow with the words ‘I love my daddy lots and lots.’
Fans rushed to comment on the sweet post with one commenting: “Happy Fathers day to you, Olly”.
Another joked : “Imagine going to school and saying olly murs if your dad”.
A third said: “She’s a lucky girl to have you as her daddy. I’m just going to rub the sleepy dust out of my eyes xx”.
Olly and his wife Amelia announced they were expecting in December last year. Four months later, their pair revealed that they had welcomed a baby girl, ‘mini murs’ in a snap of him and Amelia leaving the hospital hand-in-hand with their newborn daughter in a car seat.
Alongside welcoming a newborn, singer Olly is also hitting the road on a 41-date tour alongside Take That which started on April 13, and while that may seem inconvenient timing for any new parents, they've got a plan.
"Every few days on tour I get a day off, so if it happens, I can get back. We have got some stadium shows over the summer so I think Amelia will be coming along to them with the baby," Olly explained to The Sun before the little one's arrival.
The former X Factor star added: "We are so ready to have children now and ultimately, it all came naturally and it was beautiful. I am hoping we have a baby who will sleep. Everyone has said to me, ‘Just get into a good routine.”
