This Morning's Josie Gibson issues health update as she undergoes procedure after hospital stay
This Morning presenter Josie Gibson has shared a health update with her fans after a medical issue she suffers from saw her end up in hospital. The 39-year-old has been dealing with bouts of tonsillitis whenever she is "run down," with the star ending up needing medical attention after her stint on I'm a Celebrity.
But now the star has revealed she's taken matters into her own hands after undergoing a procedure to avoid needing surgery. The ITV star told her 729,000 followers: "Every time I get run down, I end up with tonsillitis. I ended up in hospital in December, and over the years, my right tonsil has been getting bigger... well no more my friends... bye-bye tonsil."
Josie shared that she's visited the Health Hub medical practice in Herne Hill to have a non-surgical procedure to try and prevent her from getting repeatedly sick.
In the next Instagram story, she filmed the doctor as she wrote: "This is Mike Dilkes who uses laser technology to remove tonsils instead of going for full-blown tonsillectomy which I haven't got space in the diary to recover from. I'm sharing this because I've been looking into this for years."
After undergoing the non-surgical procedure, Josie filmed her treated tonsils as she wrote: "Procedure took 10 minutes and I can't believe this is my pulverised tonsil using laser technology. No bleeding, and I can go back to work tomorrow," she excitedly told her social media followers.
In December, Josie appeared on Loose Women, where the mum-of-one revealed she was hospitalised after starring on I'm A Celebrity due to her health woes.
She told the panel that she was struggling to breathe as she rushed herself to accident and emergency to seek medical attention.
"I was on the plane home and I just began to feel really unwell, I was shivering and when I got back I had severe tonsillitis," she explained.
"I couldn't breathe so I got taken to hospital on Friday and they put me on a drip and gave me loads of steroids to bring the swelling down so I could breathe again.
"It was a bit touch and go whether I could have made This Morning so I just want to thank everybody who works in the RUH in Bath."
Big Brother star Josie finished in fourth place on the jungle reality TV show, with former Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson crowned the winner and Tony Bellew and Nigel Farage making it to the final.
