Meghan Markle debate sparks fiery clash between Loose Women's Denise Welch and Coleen Nolan

Meghan Markle proved to be a rather controversial topic on Monday's (6 May) Loose Women, with panellists Denise Welch and Coleen Nolan becoming embroiled in a firey row about the Duchess of Sussex. The panellists were joined by Dickie Arbiter, who served as the late Queen Elizabeth II's spokesperson from 1988 until 2000.

As Dickie discussed the on year anniversary of King Charles III's coronation the conversation eventually turned towards Meghan and Prince Harry, with Denise launching into a impassioned defence of the pair.

Dickie accused the couple of "walking out" on the Royal Family, to which Denise responded: "Why would they not walk out? Why would they want to spend their life in a country that hated them?"

Before the Royal commentator could respond, fellow panellist Coleen interjected with: "We don't want you to come on here and have a debate really, we want to know how Charles is doing now, what's the future for Charles. You know it's not a debate."

To which Denise angrily replied: "Don't have a guest on and say... I can say what I like Coleen." Attempting to calm the situation down, Dickie then added: "You can, you can, fair enough."

Further discussing the Sussexes relationship with the other Royals, Dickie added that the Meghan and Harry should make a public apology to King Charles and Prince William, for comments they made in both their Netflix docu-series and Harry's memoir Spare.

Reacting to this, Denise simply said: "Maybe they're not sorry." To which Dickie replied: "Maybe they're not sorry, that's your opinion. I don't know."

This isn't the first time that Denise has defended the Duchess of Sussex, having recently taken aim royal biographer and commentator Angela Levin's comments about the former actress. Denise shared a TalkTV clip on X, in which Angela could be seen complaining about Meghan's promotional photos for her new jam range, claiming they looked "set up".

In the clip presenter JJ Anisiobi pointed out that it was just PR for a product Meghan was trying to sell, and told Angela: "With respect, Angela, you sound like a social media troll." Denise also shared a clip of Alex Beresford tackling Piers Morgan about his Meghan comments on Good Morning Britain that led to Piers storming out of the studio and eventually quitting.

She wrote alongside the shared videos: "What an absolutely vile woman @angelalevin1 is. Why is she allowed to continually trash, insult and verbally abuse Meghan Markle in public forums???"

But some of those commenting on Denise's post began a backlash against her, criticising her for her own comments on Loose Women and telling her Angela should be able to make whatever remarks she wanted.

One person wrote: "Why not, even if she was? Free speech. Not everyone has to like the harkles." Another added: "The same reason you’re allowed on TV…free speech" followed by a clown emoji. Someone else commented: "We’re not keen on you either," prompting Denise to hit back with a series of crying laughing emojis.

But others agreed with Denise's opinion, as one person commented: "Absolutely @RealDeniseWelch, I couldn’t agree more! The bullying is unreal." Someone else wrote: "I honestly honestly don’t know how people are allowed to keep getting away with this constant bullying. It’s just so gross and really really dark. Glad someone stood up to her."
