Married At First Sight star announces shock split: 'The person I chose didn't choose me'

Married At First Sight Australia stars Eden Harper and Jayden Eynaud have announced they've ended their relationship after eight months together. The pair met on the eleventh series of the reality TV show last year and stayed together long after filming wrapped up.

Eden, 28, has now announced her split from Jayden, 26, in a statement shared to Instagram. She sadly said they'd ended their romance shortly before the series had finished airing, but insisted she will "never regret" taking part in the experiment.

"When I made the decision at final vows to be with Jayden, I really did that with the intention of it being forever," she began her statement.

She continued: "Jayden & I spent many months together after the experiment, Cub gained a dad and I gained a whole second family who I'm truly grateful for. I'm saddened to share that toward the end of the show airing, our relationship came to an end. The reality is, the person I chose, didn't choose me."

Eden concluded by thanking fans for their support and adding: "Whilst I'm disappointed that what you saw didn't translate in the real world, I will never regret this experiment, the people I met, the lessons I learnt and the growth it has had on me."

Shortly afterwards, Jayden broke his silence and also shared a statement to Instagram. He called his ex an "amazing woman" but said things "don't always do the way you hoped for".

"Sometimes in life, things don’t always go the way you had hoped for. After the experiment, Eden and I went back to the Gold Coast and continued to enjoy living our lives together and getting to know each other every day," Jayden penned.

He added: "However, unfortunately, our relationship ended not long before the end of the experiment airing. As sad as it is, I’m so glad I got to go through this with such an amazing woman and a beautiful son You will both always have a second family on the Gold Coast."

Their split comes after Eden clarified what happened during Home Stays week, after it appeared she'd 'gone missing'. In one scene, Jayden told producers Eden had left the apartment for some space but had not been in contact. She then missed her flight from Sydney.

Eden has since insisted Jayden was aware of where she was the entire time and had simply been running late due to traffic. She told Hit Network’s The Pulse with Seany B & Emma G: "The traffic was crazy. It took me over an hour to get home, and we live 15 minutes from the city, so I missed the flight. Jayden was fully aware of where I was and what was going on. I don’t know why he was saying that he hadn’t heard from me because he definitely had."
