MAFS star opens up on 'hard time' for family - 'My parents never got to grieve'

Ella Morgan has shared that she put her parents "through the mill" as a teenager. Speaking on Queer Love Stories podcast, hosted by Eden Heath, the Married At First Sight UK star said that she believes her parents struggled with her transitioning.

She revealed that her mum and dad never properly grieved losing a son. A section of the podcast was shared on Instagram with the caption: "In episode one, we explored the intricate dynamics and the impact transitioning can have on family life.

"It’s heart-warming to hear from so many of you who’ve shared how much you’ve learned from our conversation with Ella Morgan."

In the clip shared on Instagram, Ella said: "Me and my parents are so so close and I love my family and I'm so lucky to have them but I have put them through the mill.

"I have put them through a lot, that I I've never really spoken about. A lot of people don't understand that actually with trans people, it's hard for us, but in my eyes it's actually harder for my family, it was harder for my parents.

"They obviously gave birth to a boy who then ended up disappearing and changing overnight. And I don't think my mum or dad ever grieved me, losing Evan.

"To me, I see Evan and Ella as the same people, I just look different and I'm a different version. But my mum and dad see it quite differently, they see me and Evan as being two different people - and I was a difficult teenager."

Ella Morgan was put into the limelight when she joined the Married At First Sight UK cast in 2023. She was originally matched with Nathaniel Valentino on the E4's show but their relationship didn't work out and she instead discovered a romantic spark with JJ Slater.

Speaking to OK! in an exclusive chat, Ella that she's still friends with the Essex-based fashion brand owner - but she's focusing on herself for now.

"I'm going to stay single for a bit and focus on my career, " she said. "I’ve realised I’m not ready for a relationship so I’m going to have a glow-up and go out with the girls.

“I’ve got a lot of healing to do from the show and a lot of work to do on myself that I didn’t realise until the show – I think that was clear from me watching it and people commenting on social media.”
