Love Island's Malin Andersson shares Christmas heartbreak over two-year-old daughter
Love Island’s Malin Andersson took to Instagram to share her Christmas heartbreak over her daughter, Xaya. Malin, 31, who appeared on season two of the ITV dating show in 2016, shares two-year-old Xaya with her ex-boyfriend Jared. The pair got together in 2021 but split just five weeks after their daughter's arrival. Posting an adorable picture of her Xaya dressed in her Christmas outfit, Malin captioned the post: “My princess. You completed our Christmas.. Missing you today. Co-parenting sucks.”
Fans took to the comments to send their well wishes to Malin and share the same sentiment. One said: “First Christmas I’ve spent alone in 10 years. I’m not sure it will ever get any easier!” Another commented: “Sending love. It doesn't get easier, I'm sorry to say. But focuses on the present and making memories. She knows you love her.” A third comment: “She is so stunning; what a little cutie!!!! You are doing what’s right by her and keeping it happy and calm for her sake; she will be so excited to see you and tell you all about her day!"
While co-parenting comes with its struggles, Malin has described motherhood as “hard but so rewarding”. She told OK! in 2023: "Xaya is so funny and cheeky – she’s very switched on. But it’s hard doing it on my own and coping with the lack of sleep. If I had a partner, we could take it in turns and work as a team. I’m finding co-parenting a bit difficult.

“But being a mum is so rewarding. It’s a love like no other. Before, I felt like I was walking through life with no purpose. Now, Xaya has given me a reason to wake up in the morning. She makes me want to push myself and has completely given my life meaning again.” Malin has been open about the difficulties she's faced in the past.
In 2017, the star lost her beloved mother, Consy, to cancer. Two years later, her daughter, named after her late mum, died after being born seven weeks prematurely. The following year, Malin bravely revealed her ex-boyfriend and Consy's father, Tom Kemp, had abused her throughout their relationship.
Malin and Tom were together from January 2018 to March 2019. He was later given a 10-month prison sentence by Aylesbury Crown Court after admitting actual bodily harm. Malin is now a wellness coach, following her stint in the Love Island villa.
Earlier this month, Malin opened up about a terrifying experience. The reality star was driving when her car exploded - her daughter was also in the vehicle at the time. The reality TV star took to Instagram to share the horrifying incident, revealing that she and Xaya, managed to escape just in time before the car caught fire.
She wrote: "I took Xaya and me out and ran with her down the side of the dual carriageway in time, and it blew up and caught fire minutes later." Thankfully Malin added that she and Xaya are safe and sound after the ordeal. This isn't the first time Malin and her daughter have had a scary moment on the road. Back in April, she needed help from the fire brigade when her young daughter accidentally locked herself in the car.
Malin uploaded images of the tense situation and described her panic: "My phone and everything else was in there and I was like F***. The fire brigade came and opened the door safely within minutes but this never crossed my mind and I could have been in a worse situation where my friend wasn't with me and I hadn't had access to a phone."
