Fashion has long been in thrall to stylish couples, from Carolyn Bessette and John F. Kennedy Jr to Kate Moss and Johnny Depp. After all, there’s a specific kind of magic when two people who are in love share a certain sartorial flair, with two heads being better than one, as the saying goes.

So it’s no surprise then that California-based denim brand Frame has decided to capitalise on the undeniable cultural cachet of one of the hottest couples of the moment, Sienna Miller and Oli Green (who, with their 14 year age-gap, are also a May-December pairing - so 2025), by casting them in its new spring/summer 2025 ad campaign.

The images, shot by Frame’s co-founder and creative director Erik Torstensson (a long-time friend of Miller), lean into the intimacy of the couple, and recall iconic denim ads of the 1990s such as the infamous ‘Nothing gets between me and my Calvins’. Meanwhile the styling is very ‘model-off-duty’, with a barefoot Miller wearing a simple white tank top tucked into her jeans, allowing the denim to really take centre stage. She wears Frame’s new The Vertical jeans, a classic straight leg in rigid denim, while Green is in a Canadian tuxedo – that is straight jeans with a matching denim shirt, which is left open.

Fashion brands have often cast couples to front their campaigns, no doubt hoping to benefit from both the undeniable buzz of doing so and the positive press it will attract for their brand. After all, who doesn’t want to feel loved-up in what they are wearing? It’s something French brand The Kooples has practically based its entire brand identity on, famously casting real-life couples in its campaigns.

In recent years, other notable couples to have canoodled for fashion photographers have included both rumoured pairings such as Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny for Gucci, and established ones like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West for Balmain, Victoria and David Beckham for Emporio Armani, Brooklyn and Nicole Peltz Beckham for Pepe Jeans and Jay-Z and Beyoncé for Tiffany & Co.

One of the first designers to recognise the power of a celebrity couple wearing her clothing was Donna Karan, who cast her friends, the then-married Hollywood stars Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, in one of her early fashion campaigns for her eponymous brand back in 1996.

It’s not even the first time that Miller has starred in a campaign alongside a lover. In 2013, she was photographed by Mario Testino alongside her then-partner and fellow actor, Tom Sturridge, for Burberry’s autumn/winter 2013 collection, with the two actors kissing and canoodling while wearing the British brand’s iconic heritage trench coats.

While 43-year-old Miller is a household name, known for both her acting career (she was most recently in Kevin Costner’s Yellowstone spin-off film, Horizon: An American Saga Chapter One) as much as her sense of style, 28-year-old Green is an up-and-coming actor and model, whose most recent acting credit was as ‘Russ the checkout guy’ in Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. He also played Kate Middleton’s boyfriend, Rupert Finch, in the final season of The Crown.

The son of gallerist Jonathan Green and his American-born wife, Alison Ross, Green has spent time in both the UK and New York (much like Miller, who herself has British and American parents). One of his earliest acting credits was in a music video for the singer John Earthley, alongside model Kaia Gerber, and he has also previously modelled for Burberry as well as GAP and Urban Outfitters. Prior to dating Miller, his previous relationship was with Evie Henderson, the daughter of the chef Skye Gyngell.

Miller and Green first met at a mutual friend’s Halloween party in 2021, with the 43-year-old actress revealing that she initially discounted her much younger beau on account of his age. “I was like ‘This is absurd, this will not go anywhere.’ And then he worked hard to persuade me to go out for a drink with him. I don’t think you can legislate on matters of the heart. I certainly have never been able to,” she told Vogue in 2023. They welcomed their first child, a daughter whose name they have not publicly shared, in December 2023.

Miller also has an 11-year-old daughter, Marlowe, with her ex Sturridge. Theirs is a harmonious blended family by all accounts, with Marlowe appearing alongside Miller and Green at the Cannes Film Festival last year to promote Horizon. Sturridge is engaged to another iconic Noughties fashion icon, Alexa Chung, who Marlowe thinks is “way more fashionable”, as Miller joked to Vogue.
