Love Island star reveals what happens when you get your period in the villa
Samantha Kenny was the fourth islander to depart the Majorcan villa and she has now given an insight into behind-the-scenes of life in the villa as a girl.
Speaking exclusively to OK!'s Love Island Dumping Debrief – OK!'s weekly video series where the 2024 cast unpack the latest drama from the series – the makeup artist revealed how the girls had to sometimes barricade themselves in the toilet in order to deal with “women things.”
“All the girls had periods. Obviously the bathroom situation's a bit mad, but we'd always put the fire extinguisher in front of the door because it doesn’t have a lock on it. Then I'd put the bin as well. No one could come in,” she told OK!
From our previous chat with Munveer Jabbal and Patsy Field, it was revealed to us that Samantha was the frequent rule breaker in the villa.
She told OK!: “It was the first two days and you’re nervous. So, I had a full glass of wine but if I was sat next to someone, I’d look in their drink and try to take theirs all the time. Producers would be like, ‘what are you doing?’ and I'd be like, ‘I'm just having a swig!”
But that wasn’t the only time Samantha was reprimanded in the villa.
“When we would get a text, and producers would get me to read it but I have this thick Scouse accent and I would reword it so I could understand it or so people could understand me. Then the producer would say, ‘Samantha, you've just read that text completely wrong. Can you do it again?’ and I told them I had to reword but they gave me a firm no, read what you see. Ooops.”
Samantha had a whirlwind romance with former TOWIE star Joey Essex, but when bombshell Grace Jackson came in and chose to recouple with him, Samantha’s time was cut short, leaving her vulnerable and dumped from the villa.
However, there seems to be no hard feelings. Samantha still thinks of Joey as a "caring and kind person" but acknowledges how "insensitive" he was towards her and her feelings.
Exclusively speaking to new magazine about her time with Joey, she said: "I still think he’s a caring and kind person, I just think he was insensitive to my feelings. I’ve now seen the things that he said behind my back, like when he said the handbrake wasn’t completely on [after the date]. Seeing that hurt me.”
