Loose Women's Denise Welch leaves ITV co-star in tears

Actress and Loose Women panellist Denise Welch reduced her fellow ITV presenter Cat Deeley to tears of laughter during a link to the This Morning studio on Thursday 2 May. Host Charlene White was telling This Morning presenters Cat and Ben Shephard what to expect on the day’s episode of Loose Women, with one of the discussion items being: “Should every child learn to play the recorder?”

Charlene said it was something Denise was very passionate about, and promised the former Coronation Street actress would give a performance at the end of their show.

However, she was then interrupted by Denise during the preview segment, who produced a recorder from under the desk and began to play a few strangled notes on it.

“Not now, suspense! Wait!” Charlene said, trying to stop Denise from playing any more notes, while the camera switched to Ben and Cat on the This Morning sofa, both unable to contain their laughter.

Giggling, Cat politely commented that Denise was “warming up nicely” with her playing, while Ben begged Denise to stop playing and “please wait, please wait” until the Loose Women show before performing with the recorder again, causing both Charlene and Cat to laugh even more.

Encouraged by this, cheeky Denise played another out of tune note and then decided to play a few more by blowing into the recorder with her nose, which led Cat to cry with laughter and then cover her mouth to stop herself laughing, and Ben to comment: “There is no end to Denise Welch’s talents!”

“Don’t let anyone else use that recorder,” Cat laughed as she tried to gain her composure at the end of the segment.

Cat and Ben have settled into their roles as This Morning co hosts since joining the show in March. Speaking to OK! at the end of April, former Good Morning Britain presenter Ben said : “I’m loving it. It’s brilliant working with Cat, and it’s brilliant having a lie in! The team are amazing.”

Cat, meanwhile, has said that she is enjoying working as a co-presenter again , after presenting US series So You Think You Can Dance? alone for 18 years. “I’ve been hosting solo for the past few years and I’ve really missed that sense of camaraderie,” she said. “Whenever This Morning is on, it’s like having your friends over – funny, smart, heartfelt, informative and joyful – like all the greatest friendships.”
