Kit Harington and Harry Lawtey Analyse ‘Industry’ Season 3 Scenes
“I spent many years having nothing comedic to do,” notes Kit Harington in the latest episode of Esquire’s Freeze Frame. It is true that for the eight long seasons in Westeros, Harington – who played world-conquering hunk Jon Snow – was fairly sullen. Hard to tell jokes when you’re trying to stop the onset of winter (did that ever come by the way?). His new co-star Harry Lawtey nod: “No jokes for Jon.”
Harington is the latest addition to finance drama Industry, co-created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, which charts the ups but mostly downs of the employees at investment bank Pierpoint. In the latest season, there’s a change of pace for our beleaguered finance bro Robert (played by Lawtey) who is helping out at Henry Muck’s (Harington) green energy startup Lumi. Will it be a haven of blue sky thinking or more life-ruining chaos? Given Muck’s posh boy upbringing and contempt for other humans, you wouldn’t bet on his management skills. But at least there are jokes!
Lawtey and Harington, who clearly had a lot of fun on set together, go deep on the Industry’s class dynamics, what exactly makes these characters tick and the intricacies of the tongue-twisting script. They also discuss the bravest choice an actor can make (it’s eating on camera, though we’ll let you watch to discover who had the stomach for that).
