Kate Moss has found the coolest, easiest way to wear leopard print
Leopard print has long been one of Kate Moss' style signatures – remember her iconic 30th birthday look of a leopard print coat thrown over a lemon-yellow mini dress. And that Stella McCartney jumpsuit? So, when the model stepped out in Paris this week for a handful of Fashion Week shows, it was hardly a surprise to see her clutching a leopard print bag (by Saint Laurent, naturally). What her statement tote did do, however, was remind us that playing into the leopard print trend with an accent accessory, rather than a head-to-toe look, can actually pack a lot more fashion punch.
What with suede bags and burgundy bags also vying for our bank card's attention this season, we're spoilt for choice of stylish accessories right now. But a leopard print bag is our top pick for those times when you want to add a touch of bold playfulness to your outfit – or, especially when teamed with an otherwise all-black ensemble, a rebellious hint of Moss-style rock'n'roll.
Clearly fully on board with the trend, Kate was also seen carrying a leopard print bucket bag in the French capital, again against the canvas of an all-black get-up. On another occasion in the same week, she wore a leopard print coat – over, you guessed it, an all-black outfit. If we asked for her expert answer to 'how to style leopard print', we're now sure we know what she'd say: choose one leopard print piece and keep everything else black. It's cool, it's chic, and it's a failsafe style winner.
Of course, fashion's street style stars have also been out in force for Fashion Month, with many nodding to the runways by incorporating leopard print into their looks (leopard print heels have also been popular). If you're not into black, make like our favourites and try keeping the rest of your look tonal in another muted palette, such as cream or navy. Love colour? We also love leopard print with cherry red or burgundy.
Or, if you're after a full outfit formula to copy, heed our fashion director Oonagh Brennan's advice and team your leopard print with classic pieces like a white or striped shirt, a navy blazer and gold jewellery.
Leopard print dominated the AW24 fashion shows but was also a regular on the SS25 catwalks, meaning if you buy the right leopard print item now, it'll last you well into next year too. Plus, in our eyes, leopard print is a timeless, neutral staple, which is why this is one of our favourite autumn/winter trends to invest in.
Predictably, there are lots of leopard print bags available to shop now, including some of our favourites below. Led by Kate's own top pick, of course...
