The Split's Nina star secretly marries 'love of life' after shock divorce from famous husband last year
Annabel Scholey, who celebrated her 40th birthday recently, has let slip that she is blissfully wedded to the "love of life" just one year after her divorce was finalised. This year's been a whirlwind of celebrations for Annabel not only did she mark a milestone birthday and walk down the aisle with her new beau, Jim Trayhurn, but she also saw her daughter embark on her first day of school. The star recounted the extraordinary year she's had: "I turned 40 in January. The last year of my 30s and this year has been incredible. I'm married to the love of my life, my daughter started school and work has been going incredibly well, so I feel very, very fortunate," reports RSVP Live.
Following a six-year marriage to famed actor Ciaran McMenamin, which ended in 2023, Annabel and her ex now focus on raising their young daughter Marnie together. Six months into her marriage with Jim, the actress, known for 'The Split', took to Instagram where she posted an adorable selfie celebrating her new relationship with the caption: "Six months of being married to this legend." During a recent interview with Hello magazine, she opened up about her newly-married life: "I got married at the very end of 2023 and went on my honeymoon this year. I also turned 40 and my husband turned 40."
Adding to the excitement, fans of the beloved BBC drama 'The Split' can rejoice as it returns to screens with a much-anticipated two-part special set in Barcelona later this month.

The Split, a BBC series that first hit our screens in 2018 and ran for three gripping seasons until 2022, is now taking us on a Spanish escapade. The latest episodes follow the journey of formidable family lawyer Hannah Defoe (played by Nicola Walker) and Nathan Stern (Stephen Mergen), as they navigate their new lives as ex-spouses during a family wedding. Annabel returns as Nina Defoe, who's dealing with her own romantic turmoil.
Annabel recognises that just as there are countless ways to fall in love, there are equally numerous ways for a couple to end their story. It can be drawn-out, chaotic, sorrowful, or even joyful if both parties feel ready to move on.
The Split uniquely manages to uncover the beauty in breakups, which is particularly evident in the upcoming episodes. "The Split has always been about the imperfections of humanity and relationships," Annabel shared with Metro. "The latest series demonstrates that divorce can be beautiful in its own imperfect way. It doesn't have to be a total disaster. People can still find love for each other."
When quizzed on whether divorce can be beautiful beyond the realm of television, Annabel replied: "As a divorcee, I know that real life can be more complicated. It's a bumpy ride, but if you put your child first, which we always strive to do, it's possible. It's full of drama, but your focus needs to be in the right place."
