Prince William's jaw-dropping gift for Kate Middleton that she'll never forget
Buying gifts for people is a special skill that some of us certainly lack and it seems Prince William is one of those unlucky few, in his own words. The Royal Family have previously revealed that they have a tradition of buying gag Christmas presents such as a 'grow your own girlfriend kit' and a leather toilet seat.
While the heir to the throne has likely gotten better over the years, he previously joked about one of the first gifts he bought Kate during the early days of their relationship. During a 2020 appearance on a podcast with footballer Peter Crouch, the prince revealed what the odd gift was and how the princess will still never let him forget what he chose.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been happily married for 13 years and have three children together. They famously met at St Andrew's University in 2001 and soon grew close.

And while Kate has previously spoken about William's attempts to impress her in the early days of their relationship with his cooking skills, it seems he tried to win her over in another way- and it certainly backfired!
In 2020, William appeared on a special episode of Peter Crouch's podcast in support of the Heads Up campaign. After the former England player confessed to buying his wife Abbey Clancy a raincoat three years running, Prince William said: "I did get my wife a pair of binoculars once - she's never let me forget that."
"That was early on in the courtship, that was - I think that sealed the deal," William added, while Peter laughed. The Prince continued: "It didn't go well. Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her a pair of binoculars, it seemed like a good idea at the time."
While Prince William's gift buying skills were seemingly questionable, Kate appears to be far better at knowing what to give as a present. During her first Christmas spent with the Royal Family at Sandringham House in Norfolk, she was apparently worried about what to gift the late Queen.
Speaking in a TV documentary in celebration of the Queen's 90th birthday, Kate revealed what the thoughtful gift was. "I can remember being at Sandringham, for the first time, at Christmas. And I was worried what to give the Queen as her Christmas present," she said.
“I was thinking, 'Gosh, what should I give her?' I thought back to what I would give my own grandparents. And I thought, 'I'll make her something,' which could have gone horribly wrong. But I decided to make my granny's recipe for chutney.
"I was slightly worried about it, but I noticed the next day that it was on the table. I think such a simple gesture went such a long way for me and I've noticed since she's done that on lots of occasions and I think it just shows her thoughtfulness, really, and her care in looking after everybody."
