Kate Middleton blue on Valentine's Day as she opens The Icap Art Room at Northolt High School

The Duchess of Cambridge goes anti-Valetine's in blue on a chilly day in North West London

The Duchess of Cambridge officially opened the The Icap Art Room at Northolt High School this morning.

The Duchess formerly known as Kate Middleton went for a smart blue LK Bennett outfit, avoiding any trace of Valentine's Day attire, pairing it with black heels and a small black clutch.

Kate braved the extremely chilly weather with no coat and thin tights but she wasn't out in the elements for long, entering the school to open the Art Room and speak to the pupils.

The Art Room is a national charity which offers art as therapy to children and young people aged five to 16 who are facing challenges in their lives. Art Room practitioners support students and help them grow their self-confidence, self-esteem and engagement with education through art.

The sheath dress is the Detroit Notch Collar Fitted Dress currently on sale at LK Bennett for £225 in snorkel blue. (Also available in light cream and red voilet.) And if you like the look of it bag it while you can because we guarantee there won't be any left by the end of the day.

Kate's trademark locks looked glossy and healthy, and she went for her usual make up look - natural with highly-defined kohl eyes.

The Duchess spent time with children at the school and was cheered as she entered the sports hall  to address the assembly.

After sparkling in jewels borrowed from the Queen at her recent National Portrait Gallery appearance, Kate opted for a much more paired-down, daytime look with a simple silver pendant on a chain and simple drop earrings.

Kate's husband Prince William and his brother Prince Harry are in Berkshire today meeting victims of the flooding and helping out with the relief effort. Perhaps little Prince George is enjoying a day with granny Middleton.
