Home and Away icon announces shock split from husband after 5 years
Home and Away star Sarah Roberts has revealed she and husband James Stewart have split. The actress announced the end of her five-year marriage to the fellow Home and Away star in a new interview.
Sarah, 39, who played Willow Harris in the Australian soap, revealed she and James, 48, have divorced following their 2019 wedding. Speaking in an interview with Stellar magazine, she said: "I just want to say that I am divorced."
The actress added: "Sometimes people grow apart and that's okay... I got to a point where I realised I couldn't grow in the way I wanted to within this particular relationship."
Sarah and James, who plays Justin Morgan in Home and Away, had previously sparked rumours they'd parted ways. Speculation was rife after James was absent from the premiere of Sarah's film Wog Boys Forever in Melbourne in October 2022.
At the time, it was reported by The Daily Telegraph that James was "nowhere to be seen on the red carpet" and was apparently no longer following his wife's Instagram account. However, James' agent denied he had split from Sarah at the time.
James and Sarah started dating in 2017 and the following year they announced their engagement. In July 2019, the couple married at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland.
Prior to marrying Sarah, James was engaged to Jessica Marais. He met her on the set of Packed to the Rafters in 2009 and got engaged in 2010. They separated in 2015 before they could make it down the aisle.
James said of their split: "Our relationship didn't work out because I think hearts go in different directions eventually." James shares a daughter, Scout, 11, with his ex-fiancée Jessica.
The dad-of-one has starred in Home and Away since 2016, while ex-wife Sarah left the Aussie soap in 2021 after joining the cast in 2017. She departed in order to focus on her film career.
Alongside Home and Away, Sarah has appeared in Wolf Like Me and Scrublands, as well as Method and Footballer Wants a Wife. The actress has starred in Aussie soap Neighbours in three different roles over the years. She first appeared in the soap in 2010 as Clare Henderson, then as Jess Walker in 2011 and Sienna Matthews in 2014.
Meanwhile, James is known for appearing in Breakers as Alex Markham for 10 years, as well as Packed to the Rafters, in which he played Jake Barton from 2009 until 2013. He joined the cast of Home and Away in 2016.
