We’ve always had a sneaking suspicion that anti-ageing creams are total rubbish.

And it sounds like Dame Helen Mirren has too as the actress – who is the face of the skincare brand, by the way – has said that L’Oréal’s moisturiser “probably does f**k all”.

Sitting on a L’Oréal panel in the South of France as brand ambassador, Mirren told Campaign that when she puts her moisturiser on it “probably does f**k all, but it just makes me feel better”:

“I’m not setting standards for others,” she said.

“All I can do is be who I am. I’ve always loved make-up.

“I’m an eternal optimist – I know that when I put my moisturiser on it probably does f**k all, but it just makes me feel better.

“I’ve always said to L’Oréal as well that I will only do what makes me feel better.”

Mirren has been the face of L’Oréal’s Age Perfect moisturiser range since 2014, and also spoke of how it drives her “crazy” that ads promoting skin products have “used pictures of 15- and 16-year-old girls”.

“As a 30-year-old, I used to look at that and think, what the f**k are you talking about,” she added.

“It was ridiculous. P****d me off majorly.

“Advertisers are only just coming out of that, and it’s taken them a long time.”

So whether anti-ageing moisturiser does “f**k all” or not, we’re still glad it’s her face up there.
