Gogglebox's Daniel Lustig opens up on 'new romance' after split from co-star husband Stephen Webb
Gogglebox favourites Stephen and Daniel Lustig-Webb devastated fans earlier this month when news of their divorce broke, with the couple of eight years admitting they had "grown apart" but would still remain friends. And now, Daniel has spoken exclusively to OK! about the prospect of finding love once again.
The hairdresser, 43, who runs two salons with fellow stylist Stephen, 52, and has plans to open a third, tells us he has only had three serious relationships in his 49 years, and he “absolutely believes in love”. And now the break-up emotions have faded and the pair are successfully navigating their new relationship, he’s starting to feel ready to find love again - and has even imagined the scenario he'd like to meet a new suitor in.
“I’ve noticed I have started to look around when I’m out and about,” he grins. “If I’ve seen someone quite hot, I’ve actually looked at them, rather than thinking, ‘Oh, there’s a hot guy’ and looking away.
“I believe in love and I absolutely still do. I do see myself falling in love again and even possibly getting married again one day.”
And, he adds, he already knows what he wants for his “meet-cute”, to quote his favourite film genre. “When I met Stephen there was the odd website but there were no dating apps,” he says. “I met him in a queue in the Town Hall. That’s how I hope I’ll meet someone again, but maybe not in the Town Hall this time.
“Maybe I’ll run out of poo bags and turn to a really hot guy and say, ‘Hi, have you got any poo bags?’ and he’ll say ‘Yeah here, and here’s my number!’”
“I haven’t been on a dating app so I don’t know anything about it,” he laughs. “I know to swipe left and right, but that’s about it. I’ll have to get some young friends to teach me.”
The news of their split was announced on 21 April, with Stephen, 52, telling The Sun on Sunday: “It’s with much sadness Daniel and I have decided to divorce. There is, and always will be, a lot of love there but we’ve unfortunately grown apart and made the decision to part ways.”
Daniel added: “We’ve made the decision with a very heavy heart to confirm our marriage has come to an end. I’m sure we will forever be friends.” Proving that they really are remaining friends, the pair have still been sharing snaps together on social media.
