Gogglebox's Stephen Lustig-Webb breaks social media silence after confirming divorce
Gogglebox favourite Stephen Lustig-Webb has spoken out after it was revealed he and husband Daniel are ending their marriage. The TV stars have been married for six years and in a relationship for more than eight years.
The news was announced on 21 April, with Stephen, 52, telling The Sun on Sunday: “It’s with much sadness Daniel and I have decided to divorce. There is, and always will be, a lot of love there but we’ve unfortunately grown apart and made the decision to part ways.”
Daniel, 43, added: “We’ve made the decision with a very heavy heart to confirm our marriage has come to an end. I’m sure we will forever be friends.”
However, it looks like things haven't ended on bad terms for the former couple. Daniel took to Instagram shortly after the news broke to post a hilarious video of him and Stephen joking around on Brighton beach.
The pair could be seen riding bikes around the seaside resort as they laughed and joked together. Daniel captioned the fun clip: "Riding tandem straight out of this marriage #beryl #bff."
Fans flocked to share their sadness over Daniel and Stephen's divorce in the comments, with one person saying: "So sad that you are divorcing but hope you both can be amicable and remain friends." A second added: "I hoped it was fake news Wishing you both a lifelong friendship xx."
A third fan penned: "So sad to read this ... love you two ... but wishing you both the happiness you deserve for the future xxx." While another said: "So sad but I wish you both well for the future."
Daniel and Stephen, who got engaged in 2016, tied the knot in 2018 during a ceremony held at the Chateau de Lisse in Lot-et-Garonne, France. The following year, Daniel joined his husband on hit Channel 4 show Gogglebox.
Stephen was part of the original lineup of Gogglebox in 2013 with his ex-boyfriend, Chris Ashby-Steed. Christopher was then replaced by Stephen's mother Pat Webb during a stint in 2017 throughout series 10 to 12, until the following year.
The couple's split comes after Stephen announced he was leaving Gogglebox last year. Writing on Instagram, Stephen announced: "After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox. We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities.
"We would like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show. We are also extremely grateful to the cast and crew, or Gogglebox family, as we call them and of course the fans, thank you for all of your love & support over the years."
