Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has explained why he refuses to name his daughter on television and why he rarely shares pictures of his family.

During Good Morning Britain on Wednesday 26 June, Martin was discussing Labour leader Keir Stamer’s policy of not naming his children. Martin pitched in and revealed that he’s doing the same with his daughter until she’s an adult.

He said: "With my daughter, there are no photos of her on the internet because we took that decision when she was born, it'll be her decision when she's 18 whether she wants any publicity."

Martin is married to television presenter Danielle Lara Lewington, and the pair share a daughter together. Rather than naming their daughter in interviews, Martin calls her his, “Mini MSE” (Mini Money Saving Expert).

That is the nickname Martin has stuck to for years. Martin tweeted a couple of years ago: "Mini MSE (age 7) said to me smiling tonight, having got some fruit from the fridge, 'Daddy these grapes are a day over their best-before date, but I know I can eat them still because they're not use buy, and they still look ok.' I'm very proud. What a chip off the old block :)."

Martin and wife Lara welcomed their daughter in 2012 making her around 12 years old.

The couple did reveal they had welcomed a daughter to the public shortly after she was born and Martin told The Sunday Times in 2020: "When my daughter was born, I remember saying: 'I'll buy her everything she needs, but not everything she wants'. Unfortunately, I didn't factor in her special power. Those eyes."

Back in 2022, Martin was forced to delete a Tweet about his daughter after being trolled. Martin had asked his daughter a question on the subject and was “blown away” by her impressive answer, as he shared it with his Twitter followers.

His now-deleted tweet read: “Just been blown away by mini MSE (aged 9). I asked her if she knew what the government's job is. She simply replied: 'The government's job is to help shape the country.'"

Martin proudly added: "Brilliant and succinct."

However, shortly after, the Money Saving Expert later deleted his tweet after trolls slammed his story, claiming it “didn’t happen”.

Martin snapped back at the trolls following his removal of the tweet, as he wrote: “Twitter really is a horrible place sometimes."

Fans came to defend the host afterwards, as one person wrote: “Take no notice Martin!. Some people will always be vindictive just for the fun of it. Post your earlier comment back up."
