Royal watchers have been able to breathe a sigh of relief after Princess Anne was allowed to move out of hospital following her concussion and her husband gave a touching tribute to the hospital that nursed her back to health.

She was able to return to her home, Gatcombe Park, after being discharged from the hospital. But she is not fully out of the woods just yet. She is expected to stay home to rest and recuperate until her medical team tells her she is healthy enough to return to royal duties.

The Princess spent five days at Southmead Hospital, an NHS hospital in Bristol, after suffering an impact from a horse and obtaining a minor head injury. Her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, thanked the hospital for their care, expertise and kindness.

The 73-year-old is no stranger to horses, as she rode in the 1976 Montreal Olympics where she competed in the equestrian three-day event. She was the first royal to ever compete in an Olympic Games. She also won gold in 1971 at the European Three-Day Event Championships.

Due to the concussion, exact details of her injury are unknown, however sources believe she was out for an evening stroll and made contact with a horse’s leg or head.

Princess Anne became one of many royals undergoing medical treatment, as both King Charles and Princess Kate are both battling cancer.

Kate recently returned to the public eye for the first time at the Trooping of the Colour on June 15 where she was seen on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with her family. She also posted a loving photo of her children George, Charlotte and Louis jumping for joy with their father for the Prince of Wales’ 42nd birthday.

The BBC’s royal correspondent, Jenny Bond, said the photo speaks volumes about their optimism for the future.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with OK! Jenny said: “The last few months have been a test of their strong partnership. I think this photograph tells us that they are still able to jump for joy, even in the toughest of times, and that Kate has deliberately chosen a picture that speaks of their optimism for the future.”

She pointed out how William has been an absolute rock for Kate in recent months, and how Kate’s choice of joyous photo pointed towards their enduring partnership.

Fortunately for both Princess Anne and Princess Kate, they are both out of hospital and appear to be on the road to recovery.
