Giovanni Pernice has broken his silence following news that he won't be part of the professional line-up for this year's Strictly Come Dancing. It comes after the dancer, 33, is undergoing a BBC investigation following claims of "abusive or threatening behaviour" towards his celebrity partners during the show.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, 15 June, Giovanni wrote a lengthy statement and said he looks forward to "establishing the truth". He said: "To my fans and followers, Every week, there are totally untrue stories about me in the media.

"As you know, I have always rejected any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour. The latest accusations are simply false.

"I am cooperating fully with the ongoing BBC investigation, which will determine the truth. As requested, I have stayed silent, but I am looking forward to the conclusion of the investigation and ultimately clearing my name and establishing the truth.

"I am so happy to be back on tour. Thank you all for your continued support – you messages and love mean so very much to me. I will hopefully see many of you very soon and I look forward to clearing my name.

"With love, Giovanni."

Gillian McKeith said: "Stay strong. Your dedication and incredible talent will always shine brighter." Fans also offered their support as one commented: "Gio, your name is crystal clear as far as your fans are concerned. A lion must never worry himself over the opinions of sheep. Chin up you amazing human."

"I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Gutted you’re not going to be on strictly this year. Hopefully you’ll be back next year! Stay strong," another penned.

The 33 year old dancer has faced a controversial past few months after actress Amanda Abbington, who was his celebrity partner on Strictly Come Dancing last year, left the show early and later claimed she suffered from PTSD. The BBC reportedly launched an internal investigation after receiving complaints from his previous celebrity dance partners and Giovanni denied any claims of "abusive or threatening behaviour".

Earlier this year, Giovanni dismissed any claims of "abusive or threatening behaviour" and vowed to "clear [his] name". He said: "Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me.

"I have always strived to help them be the very best dancers they can be. This has always come from a place of love and wanting to win - for me and my dance partners. Thank you all once again for your continued love and support!"
