George Clarke devastated after horrific robbery - ‘I could have been stabbed’
TV presenter George Clarke has revealed that he was the victim of a mugging, admitting that he could have been 'stabbed' by the thief. The broadcaster, who is best known for hosting renovation shows like Channel 4's The Home Show and George Clarke's Amazing Spaces, took to social media to speak about the horrifying incident.
Writing on Instagram on Monday 17 December, George said: "To the little **** who stole my watch tonight...I pity you." After fans flooded the comments with messages of support, George continued: "It's only a watch at the end of the day. Although I loved it and grafted for it. But I could have been stabbed so let it go..."
George reassured fans in the comments that he wasn't hurt, telling them: "I'm ok. I'm just angry with himself." He added: "I wanted to hit him but I'd be the one done for assault!!!!"

Fans were quick to send well wishes to the presenter, with one writing in the comments: "That's rough. Frightening. Sorry George." Another said: "That's really awful. As long as you are not hurt!"
The architect, 50, began his TV career back in 2004 with the Channel 5 show Property Dreams and has since presented several shows about property renovation. Earlier this year, he hosted George Clarke's Adventures in Americana - a four-part series which followed him as he toured impressive American buildings.
In June, George opened up about finding fame, revealing that he feels "ill" when he watches himself on television. Speaking to Irish News, he said: “I never use the ‘C’ word – which for me is ‘Celebrity’. I don’t want to be a celebrity. I want to be a good architect. I want to make and craft really beautiful programmes that people love watching.
"I set up my own TV production company five years ago because I love the process of making a TV show and getting beautiful shots and writing nice scripts. I love that. And to be honest I don’t really watch them that much when they go out because that gets weird.
“Why would I watch myself on telly? It’s just really odd. It’s the process of making: I make buildings, I make television, I make TV programmes. It’s that kind of designer-maker thing that’s consistent with me. So the thought of being a celebrity just makes me feel a bit ill.”
That same month, George spoke exclusively to OK! about his 50th birthday celebrations, revealing that he celebrated with his partner Florence Hvorostovsky, 52, and his children. "I had a very quiet birthday, intentionally quiet. I literally spent my birthday day with my kids, my partner and her kids, my mum, a couple of my best friends and their wives," he said.
"There were 12 of us. It was a good lunch and that’s all I did. Everybody expected me to do a big massive party but you know what, I couldn't be bothered."
