Emmerdale fans 'work out' Denise Welch character's real identity as they predict twist
Emmerdale fans think they’ve worked out a ‘huge plot twist’ with Denise Welch’s character on Emmerdale. The Loose Women star made her first appearance in the soap this week, meaning she’s featured on all four major soaps.
Denise was seen portraying the character of Heidi, a juror in Tom King’s (James Chase) court case as he had been tormenting his wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) with psychological manipulation and abuse for over a year. Belle has finally managed to escape and on Thursday night’s episode, the trial was shown. Of course, Tom stuck to his old ways, trying to deceive the jury that he’s innocent as Belle shared her account of what really happened. Denise’s character Heidi was 100 percent sure Belle was being truthful, causing her to clash with Karl (Charles Dale).
Despite this, the jury then decided a guilty verdict for master manipulator Tom, meaning he had finally been caught out and was sentenced to three years in prison. However, fans think there could be more behind Denise’s character Heidi, as one fan suggested she could be “Kim Tate's long-lost sister,” as another agreed that Kim actually does have a sister who Denise could play.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Emmerdale fans were full of praise for the Loose Women star as she made her debut on the show. “Can we get Denise Welch a permanent role in Emmerdale. She’s brilliant!!!” penned one.
Another wrote: “Tonight's episode of Emmerdale was the soap episode of the year. The cherry on the cake of a superbly told and performed storyline. Eden Taylor-Draper and James Chase have consistently delivered, and huge props to Denise Welch tonight for adding an extra angle of realism,” while a third said: “I'm absolutely loving Denise Welch's character in #Emmerdale tonight! She's putting to the jury exactly how it is.”
Denise is no stranger to the soap world. Fans on X have praised the star for achieving the ‘UK version of an EGOT,’ which is an acronym for the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Awards. Fans say Denise has a CHEE, starring on all four major British soaps, Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, EastEnders and now Emmerdale.
The star made her name as Natalie Barnes in Coronation Street, and appeared in EastEnders as Alison Slater, the estranged mother of Kyle Slater in 2016.
Speaking on her Emmerdale role, Denise said: “I thoroughly enjoyed shooting this important episode of Emmerdale. Like many I've been gripped by the Belle and Tom storyline so to play a head juror in the story’s culmination was an honour.”
