Emmerdale set for emotional double exit as two stars leave tonight - but one villager returns
Manipulative and abusive vet Tom King may have finally been sent to prison, but his treatment of the residents of Emmerdale still resonates, and on Friday 20 December one of his victims decides to say goodbye to the village, and her memories of him, for good. Amelia Spencer and her young daughter Esther are set to leave after Amelia endured the controlling behaviour of Tom when she embarked on a relationship with him.
Following his split from wife Belle, Tom lied to Amelia about his marriage and she initially believed him, despite Belle’s warnings. However, his true colours were revealed to Amelia on Bonfire Night, when he raged about the villagers’ treatment of him and turned on her when she tried to support him. “I didn’t even want to come here, it was your idea,” he said, then humiliated her by adding: “This was you, meddling, making things worse and look at you - chasing after me like some stray dog. Do you see how pathetic you look?”
Tom has since been found guilty of coercive controlling behaviour and assault, and was sentenced to three years in prison. However, Amelia has decided it is best to leave the village for good with her two year old daughter, and in Friday’s episode she is collected by her dad, Daz Spencer.

It’s the first time he has been in Emmerdale in five years, and his arrival leads Amelia to tell her friends that she is moving in with him in Leicester.
Daisy Campbell, who joined the soap when she was just eight years old and has played Amelia for 13 years, revealed to the Mirror in October that she was shocked that she had been axed from the soap. “It wasn’t my choice to leave Emmerdale and it was a shock at first,” she said. “Being in Emmerdale is all I have ever known. I’ve spent the whole of my childhood growing up in the soap and it felt daunting.”
Emmerdale bosses explained to Daisy that they had run out of storylines for her following her on-screen parents’ departure from the Dales.
“Once they explained, I totally got it," she said. "Amelia isn’t part of the Dingles, her dad has left, Samson has gone now and she doesn’t have any family. There is nowhere to take Amelia and I understand that. I feel incredibly lucky to have been in the soap for 13 years and to have been handed so many opportunities at such a young age."
