Gemma Collins shows off rarely-seen dad ahead of Father's Day following family heartache

Gemma Collins spent some quality time with her father, Alan, ahead of Father's Day as they enjoyed some whisky cocktails from Rod Stewart's brand.

Dressed in a blue silky dress with her bright blonde hair styled in glamorous waves, whilst her dad stood alongside her with his drink clutched in-hand. Gemma shares a close bond with her father, as well as with her mother, Joan, who recently suffered a terrifying health scare after she "stopped breathing", and was rushed to hospital in May where she was placed in intensive care.

Former TOWIE star Gemma, 43, had to call an ambulance when Joan stopped breathing shortly after a family meal. At the hospital, Gemma was told her mum 'could die' in a terrifying moment.

"I've had a lot of stress the last couple of weeks," she told The Sun. "My mum was suddenly taken into hospital and I was told she could die. They would not resuscitate her if she went into cardiac arrest."

"So imagine that, you know, I'm in the hospital having been out for dinner the day before, and then the next day I'm like, 'wow', so that was a massive shock," the TV personality added.

Gemma first spoke out about Joan's health scare in a social media post, saying she'd had the "shock of her life" after the 80 year old took a bad turn. She told her fans: "So last week I had the shock of my life when my mum stopped breathing. I called an ambulance and was told to prepare for the worst and would I like resuscitate her."

Prior to this, Gemma shared on social media that her mum is "really ill at the minute." Gemma looked visibly upset as she explained: "My mum is really ill at the minute, she's in intensive care. "It's been a hell of a time and you know, I'm really happy, and well not that happy, because my mum's in intensive care, but she is on the mend, thank God."

Thankfully, Joan was 'stable' when Gemma shared the new update, as the reality star admitted that the hospital scare had made her look differently at life.

She explained: "It's been extremely tough but she's stable and hopefully she will be much better soon. No day is promised so make every day count."

In March last year, Gemma also shared that she had decided to undergo testing for the BRCA gene, known colloquially as the 'cancer gene' after her mum Joan had found a cancerous lump between her breast and her armpit.
