The Split: Barcelona has finally confirmed its release date
Fans of Abi Morgan's The Split will be extremely excited to hear that a two-part special, called The Split: Barcelona, is due on screens very soon.
It's two years since the third (and supposedly final) series of The Split landed on TV screens, which makes news of this extra helping - set in sunny Spain - even more thrilling.

There isn't much longer to wait as the BBC have confirmed that the two-part special will air on 29 and 30 December at 9pm each night on BBC One, with both episodes also available on BBC iPlayer from 29 December.

The two special episodes - written by Abi Morgan - will see Nicola Walker return as formidable family lawyer Hannah Defoe, as she and her family swap briefcases for suitcases and head to Barcelona for a wedding in the sun-soaked vineyards of Catalonia.
The BBC release says that the episodes will explore 'themes of love, legacy, and modern marriage, through a sparkling cast of characters that audiences know and love.'
It also confirmed that 'family lawyer Hannah Defoe and her family are back and have gathered for a beautiful wedding at a magnificent vineyard, nestled in Catalonia’s wine region. The weekend will introduce audiences to a host of new characters, including Toby Stephens (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Black Sails) as Archie Moore, and glamorous hosts Alvaro (Manu Fullola) and Valentina (Romina Cocca).'

Returning cast members also include Stephen Mangan, Annabel Scholey, Fiona Button, Deborah Findlay, Ian McElhinney, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Elizabeth Roberts and Alex Guersman.
Excitingly, the first pictures of the upcoming mini-series have just been released, which reveal our first look at new cast member Toby Stephens as eligible family lawyer Archie Moore.
