Fireman Sam celebrates its 30th birthday with a special episode for Prince George

Prepare to feel old because classic children’s TV show Fireman Sam is celebrating its 30th birthday this year.

Over the past three decades, the fictional character has put out a total of 91 fires and rescued 155 people from 246 incidents.

And to mark the momentous occasion, the television programme has produced a one-of-a-kind episode.

Last year, we learnt that Prince George is a huge fan of the cartoon as the Duchess of Cambridge purchased a book on the beloved children’s programme during a royal engagement.

Kate Middleton reportedly told the shop assistant: “Fireman Sam is George’s favourite”.

And at just four years of age, the toddler has influenced the launch of a very special episode.

“We heard that we have a very famous fan so we thought it would be really fun to introduce a Royal Family to Pontypandy to see how the community reacts to that,” creative producer Ian McCue revealed.

‘The Prince in Pontypandy’ follows a young royal as he visits the village on official royal duties. But when disaster strikes, he ends up having to use his helicopter to save the day with Fireman Sam.

And as a fan of helicopters, the plot is like a dream come true for the royal tot.

The one-off episode will air in the UK on Cartoonito and Channel 5’s Milkshake as part of series 11.
