Eamonn Holmes' fans defend him as some say 'poor Ruth Langsford' as he shares 'wonderful' friend pic
Eamonn Holmes has caused a stir among fans with his recent post, which shows him with his "wonderful" and "close" mate Linda Lusardi, while there is a lack of social updates about his wife Ruth Langsford. The renowned TV presenter posted a throwback snap alongside a current one with showbiz friend Linda.
He wrote lovingly: "1982 v 2024 and she hasn't changed a bit . My wonderful, close friend Linda Lusardi who I went to see today. 42 year friendship.”
Linda is well-known in the industry as an actress, host and ex-glamour model. The post quickly stirred up reactions among Eamonn's followers, with one questioning: "Where is your beautiful wife Ruth! Why or what are you trying prove!" Another sympathetically wrote: "Poor Ruth."
But one fan came to Eamonn's rescue, declaring: "'trying to prove' or simply sharing a picture of a longterm friendship that's lasted all these years .. how do you know it wasn't Ruth taking the picture.."
Among the messages of support was: "Why see the negative in this? They have been friends 42 years! Amazing achievement!!"Another defended the TV star, stating: "He's showing what a good friendship they have! Why do some idiots always have to be negative, derogatory, accusatory and insinuate things? For nothing better to do? Obviously not."
Another fan brushed off the sympathy for Ruth, saying: "There's no 'poor Ruth', just Ruth. You all are showing yourselves up. I'm embarrassed."
Meanwhile, another supporter defended Eamonn: "...he's not trying to prove anything. He adores his wife Ruth. He is stating he has a 42 year friendship with Linda whats wrong with that."
Just last week, Eamonn quelled the concerns of his followers who were anxious over rumours of a split from his wife Ruth, by posting an affectionate photo of the pair. The 64 year old presenter, who tied the knot with Loose Women star Ruth in 2010, is cherished by fans for their easy-going and warm relationship.
Their chemistry was palpable when they co-presented This Morning, where viewers would often be left chuckling at Eamonn's playful teasing of his spouse, and the couple also received accolades for their sensitive approach to tough subjects on the popular ITV programme.
However, in recent weeks, fans have been worried as Eamonn and Ruth haven't been seen together. The rumour mill started churning when Eamonn posted a family photo last month, with eagle-eyed followers noticing that Ruth was missing from the lovely snap.
The GB News presenter posted a picture of his eldest son - who he shares with ex-wife Gabriele, who he separated from in 1994 - along with his wife and children at a christening. Fans were quick to flood the comments section on Instagram, questioning why Ruth wasn't in the picture. And with every new photo Eamonn posts, the speculation about a possible rift between them only intensifies.
However, Eamonn put minds at ease by posting a throwback photo of him and his wife looking blissfully happy. The photo, taken in May 2018, shows the couple beaming at each other.
During an episode of Loose Women, Ruth voiced her fears about Eamonn leaving her for another woman. She confessed to the panel: "See I think, people go, 'Oh, you'd hate it if you were dumped for a younger woman'. I go, 'No, I would hate it because...' then I could do the whole cliche thing, 'Oh, Eamonn is such a cliche, he's going with a 25-year-old, how sad.' But then I think 'No, the worst thing for me is if he went off with someone the same age'. I think that is harder than being dumped for someone younger. That's my worst fear."
Linda Robson quickly dismissed any concerns about Eamonn leaving Ruth, confidently stating: "That's not going to happen."
Brenda Edwards then chimed in with her personal experience, saying: "Well, apart from my ex-husband who was like four or five years older than me, everyone else I've dated has been younger, but not more than five years."
Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have been a power couple since 1996, and they became proud parents to their son Jack in 2002. They tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in 2010.
Eamonn also shares three children with his former wife Gabrielle Declan, aged 35, Niall, 31, and Rebecca, 33. The dynamic duo presented This Morning together for years, starting in 2006, but fans were left gutted when they were replaced in 2021.
