Death in Paradise star sends heartwarming message to Ralf Little after exit

Death in Paradise star Elizabeth Bourgine has sent the sweetest shout-out to her former colleague Ralf Little after he bid farewell to the beloved BBC series.

Best recognised for portraying Catherine on the show, Elizabeth hopped over to Instagram to send some love Ralf's way. The Death in Paradise lead, who took on the persona of DI Neville Parker, recently posted a side-splitting clip on his Instagram showcasing himself getting a pedicure with the England flag colours.

In a cheery build-up to the UEFA European Football Championship match that saw England playing against Slovenia on Tuesday (June 25), an upbeat Ralf announced: "Got to represent tonight's game in style."

Flaunting his newly decked toes, he jubilantly concluded with a cry of support: "Come on, England!" Amidst the waves of laughter and cheers for his nationalistic spirit from admirers, Elizabeth chimed in with her own touching sentiments.

She wrote: "My dear Ralf, You are still So English [laughing emoji]. Hugs and kisses, Catherine from #deathinparadise."

Back in March, fans were left gutted when it was revealed that Ralf was leaving Death in Paradise after playing his role for over four years. Writing a lengthy message on Instagram he wrote: "The secret's out! My time on Saint Marie has come to an end. But, what an end! New adventures await Neville and he got to sail off into the sunset with his best friend, and, you know, who knows what happens for them next!

"I just want to say, just an enormous thank you to everyone who watched and supported the show. When I arrived, four-and-a-half years ago, I knew I had big shoes to fill. Coming into a series beloved by millions, including me, was a huge responsibility.

"I had no idea if viewers would take to my interpretation of Neville's character and indeed to me, so it was quite a relief the response has been overwhelming.

"It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to bring Neville Parker to all of you and to share his really quite profound journey with you. I can't thank you all enough for the support over the last four-and-a-half years and as Neville heads off for new challenges and adventures and I head off for new challenges and adventures."

Ralf's replacement is well known actor Don Gilet. Don is famous for his roles in EastEnders, Sherwood, and Shetland. The actor will make his debut as Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson in the 2024 Christmas special.

Talking about his new role, the star said: "Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands. This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it."
